Men Missionary Union

The Men Missionary Union of Union Baptist Church believes in absolute obedience to the Great Command of our Lord Jesus Christ. As a ministry, our focus is to ensure that every man is saved and highly rooted in the Word of God. We are concerned about all round development of every man in the church. We believe on the Word of God that says let every man raises a holy hand unto the Almighty Father therefore we are concerned with development of effective prayer life of every man in MMU.

It is our concern that every man is financially empowered and duly contented with what he has. Furthermore, we believe that every couple in the church should have an enjoyable marital life, filled with the Spirit of the Lord and with attending sense of belonging.

BRIEF HISTORY
The idea of organizing men of the church into group to reach out for Christ originated from Union programme (now Church Training Programme) of Sunday, 16th September, 1973 under the pastoral leadership of Rev J.O. Adeola. At the end of the programme (titled ‘Role of Men and youths in the church), some men in the church decided to constitute themselves into a group named Baptist Men Missionary Fellowship with the sole aim of reaching out for Christ.

True to his calling and commitment, the group embarked upon house-to-house evangelism, which eventually culminated in the establishment of a preaching station at Agowande area in Osogbo. Through the concerted effort of the group and the supportive role of Rev. Adeola the preaching station was nurtured into a full fledged Baptist Church now known as Ebenezer Baptist Church situated at Agowande in Osogbo, Osun State.

The group in further pursuance of its aim embarked upon evangelism trip to Boriya and Leper colony in Ogbomoso. The weekly activities of the group covered Bible based teachings, prayer meeting and fellowshipping. With the passage of time, the royal Ambassador arm of the organization was given due attention. The Royal Ambassador arm now operates two chapters that is, Adeola and Eebo chapters.
In compliance with the Nigerian Baptist Convention directive, the group metamorphosed into Men Missionary Union. This organization has embarked on various developmental mission projects in the church. Under the pastoral leadership of Rev E.O. Kehinde in collaboration with the past and present MMU executives, weekly assembly enjoys impressive attendance with programmes touching on the spiritual, welfare, health, family life, and financial empowerment of individual members.

The MMU cooperates fully with departments of the church such as the WMU and Youth Fellowship in the execution of missionary projects and other programmes such as outdoor witnessing, Mothers’ Day, Youth Week and Couples’ Day to mention but a few.
All to the glory of God, the MMU as a ministry believes in witnessing to men within and outside the Church and its evangelism trip to Eesa Osun in Orolu Local Government, Ifon in Osun State has led to the establishment of a new church which is known and called ‘United Baptist Church,’ The Church is nurtured by the Union Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Rev. E.O. Kehinde. Kudos to all the past MMU presidents for their selfless efforts towards the stability of this ministry. Currently, Deacon M.O. B. Taiwo is the president of the Men Missionary Union.
